January | Watch the Bat Hit the Ball
When I was growing up playing softball, my coach would say this one phrase that has always stuck out in my mind: “Just watch the bat hit the ball.” (One intergalatic fellow had a similar philoshopy you may remember: “There is no try, only do“)
I have always been a strategic planner and analyzer, but his advice was to just let go and allow yourself the space it takes to be fully in the moment. A lot of times, breaking everything down disconnects us from the present and sabotages our intentions. We remove ourselves from feeling pleasure and levity so easily in this world.
I know many people think New Years resolutions are for weak-minded, delusional people. I am not ruling out the possibilty that I am one of those, but I will always choose optimism. This year, my only resolution is to be in this moment and take my own personal Yoda’s advice to “watch the bat hit the ball.”
Let’s do it together.
One of my dear Denver friends, Savannah, will be visiting my home turf this month! We are offering some unique double team experiences and we’d love to join us. Obviously the time is of the essence, so be sure to reach out and collect us both.
Duos with Savannah Hart January 25-26th in Chicago
Speaking of Denver…Keep an eye out for announcements next month…
Let’s just commit to the full winter wonderland fantasy and do it right! I want to play Chicago tourist and go ice skating at Maggie Daley Park. This year’s is a little jazzed up by way of Van Gogh’s ‘Starry Night’ to celebrate the recent immersive exhibit. I’d love to fail fabulously together spinning out on the ice. Hey, I never said I was any good at it! I’ll need you there to hold my hand and laugh at me when I inevitably slip and fall.
Be there to catch me?
Happy New Year, babe.
