When I was growing up playing softball, my coach would say this one phrase that has always stuck out in my mind: “Just watch the bat hit the ball.” (One intergalatic fellow had a similar philoshopy you may remember: “There is no try, only do“) I have always been a strategic planner and analyzer, but his advice was to just let go and allow yourself the space it takes to be fully in the moment. A lot of times, breaking everything down disconnects us from the present and sabotages our intentions. We remove ourselves from feeling pleasure and levity so easily in this world.
