Did you miss me? I missed you.
If you’ve been following me for awhile, you know I identify as a recovering over-achiever. No challenge or ambition is too great for me, I can handle it. This winter, I decided to take on the ultimate task: No personal or professional growth for 8 weeks.
No social media. No out-running my miles per week. No breaking $$$ records. 8 weeks to just exist as I currently am and fully appreciate it before moving the goal posts. To a friend, I compared it to the satisfaction of relaxing after a big meal. All you want to do is savor the comfort of a full stomach and the lingering flavors on your tongue before immediately getting up to brush your teeth.
Naturally I failed.
Unfortunately, all the fantasies of cheetos and couch time running through my brain when I began this project did not come to fruition. I reget to inform you my commitment to the productivity void was overtaken by deep introspection, spending time with people I love, restructuring my systems (inspired by James Clear’s Atomic Habits, highly recommended!), and getting a clearer vision of what I’d like for the future.
