In another life, I lived in NYC and worked behind the scenes at a few fashion magazines. Ones I will not name, but ones you have definitely heard of. I graduated art school ready to live my best Andy Sachs life at the exact moment in The Internet decided print was on its last breath.
The publishing industry may have kicked the bucket, but you cannot take the art director out of the girl. My favorite part of the current gig is getting all that pent up editrix energy out in curating my own shoots. I love the energy and rush of a photo set (even when my ever-so-dynamic voguing leads to smashing a glass…)
Its more important for me to tell a story in photos than it is to look beautiful. When I go through the raw images initially, I can be tempted to select the ones that make me look the most conventionally attractive over the snaps that make me look fun.
There are plenty of pics online to prove I legally qualify as a Hot Girl. But ultimately, the ones that give a little sense of who I am, the way I move, how often (and how loud!) I laugh are the images I try to push forward.
I am very “pretty and witty and bright”, but more importantly, I am deeply, deeply cool. And ~c o o l~ is one of our most precious resources. If you have it, life is limitless and it gives everyone around you a contact high. If you don’t…well, you can’t buy that shit.
I’m here to spread the wealth, baby.
