August is almost here! My official annual lazy, ‘take it easy’ month. I will be spending a good portion of it in short-shorts road tripping through the Moab Desert.
Despite the fact that I cannot drive, the great American Road Trip is one of my biggest passions in life. I’m actually currently in driver’s ed for this exact reason! Between DC, Chicago, and NYC, I never needed a car, so I didn’t bother. But now that I have been developing this taste for the great outdoors, I’m motivated to get my liscense.
I bought an annual “America The Beautiful” national parks pass for my Moab trip. I could have gotten the day pass, but I decided to the commit the money to challenging myself to see as many national parks this year and next as possible.
So if I’m a good girl and get my driver’s liscense, then I get to go see as many natural wonders as I can fit in my calendar. That’s my logic anyway. Everyone should gamify their life a little

And, just for fun, here’s what I wore to see Barbenheimer💗 with a group of girlfriends. What do you think? As a former moody goth girl in high school, wearing all Barbie Pink was exhilarating.

Hi Max - Did you see that the outdoor art showcased in your newsletter and website is being moved to the Art Institute? I hope they give it a good home, maybe in the garden by Henry Moore. Hope you are doing great. 🧡 https://www.theartnewspaper.com/2023/07/28/massive-jean-dubuffet-sculpture-moving-art-institute-chicago
Max, I applaud your commitment to life outside the city limits! Have you considered plunging into backpacking? One advantage: you'd have no need for a driver's license! (But hey, I'm sure soon you'll be fully licensed...)Bruce
